Our Partners

In partnership with the New York State Department of Transportation, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance (NBK Parks) operates Under the K Bridge Park, one of New York City’s most ambitious examples of adaptive infrastructure reuse.

Since opening in 2021, Under the K has welcomed hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers for free public programming, recreation, ecological initiatives, and large-scale cultural events. These events do more than bring people together: revenue generated at Under the K directly supports NBK Parks’ horticulture, maintenance, and stewardship work across North Brooklyn.

Under the K is also home to the NBK Parks Native Nursery, a hub for cultivating biodiversity in the heart of one of Brooklyn’s most heavily industrialized areas. Each year, NBK Parks grows and distributes tens of thousands of native plants to parks, schools, nonprofits, and community gardens.

As New York City’s only district-wide parks conservancy, NBK Parks’ mission is to create an equitable, accessible, and vibrant local system of parks and open spaces. They advocate for a safer, greener, and more people-oriented public realm, working alongside partners including Transportation Alternatives, North Brooklyn Open Streets, the PS 110 PTA Safe Streets Committee, Open Plans, and other local advocates to advance safer streets and stronger connections between North Brooklyn’s neighborhoods, parks, and open spaces.
